Kim Burhop-Service is the Director of Library Human at Duke University
Libraries. In that role she oversees and provides leadership for the delivery of key HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, staff development and compensation. Current topics of interest include how to embed diversity, equity, and inclusion into the culture of the libraries and the impact of wellness initiatives on performance and retention.
Prior to joining Duke University Libraries in 2006, Kim worked at Johns Hopkins University and Catholic Relief Services in international human resources. She is also a returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Gabon). Kim has a Bachelor’s of Science in Adverting from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) and a Master’s of Arts in International Affairs from Ohio University. Additionally, she holds certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Human Resources Certification Institute and as a SHRM – Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) from the Society for Human Resources Professionals
